Voci Nuove

Voci Nuove is a twenty-four person mixed-voice chamber choir based in Cork. In Spring 2013 they completed their first series of concerts in Cork, Ennis, and Galway entitled ‘Pitches be Crazy’. Inspired by the tremendous reception received, the group began competing, winning several categories at Cork's Feis Maitiu. They were awarded second place in the Sacred and Chamber choir categories at the Cork International Choral Festival, and also won the John Mannion Perpetual Trophy.

Jimmy Crowley and Stokers Lodge

Patrick Talbot Productions Presents Jimmy Crowley and Stokers Lodge Grand Reunion Tour 2014 at the Grainstore at Ballymaloe. The Boys of Fairhill, Do You Want Your Old Lobby Washed Down, Salonika, Johnny Jump Up. Classic songs from a legendary band whose authentic pure sound dominated the thriving Irish folk scene of the 1970s and 80s. Following their hugely successful reunion concert at the Everyman in Cork, their first show in thirty years, Jimmy and the boys now embark on a Grand Reunion Tour.

Congratulations to Rory O'Connell

We would like to wish Rory O'Connell a heartfelt congratulations for winning the 'Andre Simon Award' for 'best cookbook published in 2013' for his first cook book 'Master It'. Rory was Head chef of Ballymaloe Country House Hotel for ten years, he co-founded the Ballymaloe Cookery School with Darina Allen. He was twice awarded the prestigious title of Ireland’s Chef of the Year. Congratulations Rory from everyone at Ballymaloe Country House Hotel! Read about the award here

April showers! And wind. And frost. And fog. But April days are getting longer – just in time as it’s getting very busy in the walled garden. Ensuring the soil is healthy and fertile is a priority and so the entire garden has had a liberal sprinkling of well-rotted manure. As well as adding nitrogen, the manure increases the soil’s organic matter and keeps the gardener’s biceps in shape!

Ballymaloe still has recipe for success fifty years later

Joe McNamee wrote a really nice article about Ballymaloe House, Ballymaloe Cookery School and The Ballymaloe Litfest of Food and Wine in the Irish Examiner this weekend. The article starts:
When Myrtle Allen opened a restaurant in her dining room, the self-taught chef would cook for guests on her Aga range. Today, 50 years on, the Ballymaloe brand is world-renowned.
