Californian Wine Explorers Evening and Thanksgiving Dinner

California Wines will be hosting an informative tasting and talk, allowing you the opportunity to savour a selection of Californian wines especially chosen to reflect the diversity of this prosperous wine region. 

The California Wine tasting will take part throughout our family style Thanksgiving dinner on tables of 10 in the Long Room at Ballymaloe House.

FEAST / IDL Cocktail Workshop & Lunch - Friday 7th September

Join our head gardener Mags Coughlan and bar manager Traford Murphy in the Ballymaloe walled garden on Friday 7th September to forage seasonal cocktail ingredients and garnishes. 

Irish Distillers are generously sponsoring the spirits and spend the next hour learning tricks of the mixologist's trade with Traford in a cocktail making and tasting workshop. 

Lunch will be served in the Green Dining Room and Traford will be pairing cocktails with each of the 3 seasonal set menu courses.

Keigetsu Japanese Saké - Tasting Dinner

Saké is much more than just a hot spirit served with Japanese food.  On this evening Honami will introduce the first of 5 sakés during a canapé reception and introduce guests to the process and histsory of saké making. How the 'polishing of rice' determines the different varieties and our head chef, Dervilla O'Flynn will be devising an especially paired menu to enhance the experience of the subsequent 4 sakés you will be tasting... who knew that saké can also be (1) sparkling (2) cold (3) sweet - Yuzusake... which is a citrus saké and (4) natural..

Murder Mystery weekend: 8/9th Nov 2019

The Venetian Crab Night Club AKA Ballymaloe House looks forward to welcoming you on Friday 8th November for a drinks reception hosted by MC Micky 'Blue Eyes' McCloud.  Micky Blue Eyes will welcome and brief guests on the latest developments and the sudden demise of Pedro (silent partner in the Venetian Crab Club) before enjoying the Friday night hors d'oeuvre buffet and welcome dinner.  Dress Venetian to blend in and not appear too conspicuous!

A Taste of Ballymaloe: Garden to Table Experience

Arrive into our drawing room for 11am and a welcoming garden inspired cocktail. From here you will be escorted by our gardener to the walled garden at Ballymaloe House to learn how the gardens keep the chefs in an abundance of home-grown produce, so that menus are always fresh and seasonal.

Visit the gardens and produce your especially prepared 3 course lunch will be curated from, and take the opportunity to ask questions and learn some tips for your own garden and sustainable culinary planning.

Wine Weekend with Julie Dupouy at Ballymaloe House

Julie holds the title of Best Sommelier in Ireland 2018 (Irish Guild of Sommeliers) and finished 3rd in the ASI World Sommelier Championships representing Ireland in 2016.  Julie currently works as a Sommelier Consultant at the 1* Michelin Chapter One Restaurant and as a Brand Ambassador with Edward Dillon’s Champagne portfolio, including; Moet & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Dom Perignon, Ruinart, Krug.
