Exceptional food and wine pairings at Ballymaloe Feely wine dinner

Ballymaloe hotel and restaurant and their sister business the Ballymaloe Cookery school down the road are known for their fine food and longstanding commitment to fine artisanal and homegrown food. They are also great supporters of natural wines and organic biodynamic wines. It started years ago when Darina Allen said to Sacha Whelan (the family member now responsible for the hotel) ‘we have to get our hands on this natural wine’. The one concerned was Italian and not available in Ireland and it wasn’t easy to import but it started the Ballymaloe Natural wine love affair.

Chateau Feely Wine Dinner

Sean and Caro Feely's long-held dream to go wine-farming was clinched in 2005 when they bought a rundown vineyard in South West France. Both were professionals in Dublin city with more experience in spreadsheets and presentations than in farming and fermentation.

Now twelve years into the adventure they celebrate not a misty dream, but years of hard work and the inspiration of working with nature and nurturing their farm back to the full health and flavour of a living biodynamic soil.
