“Buttercup yellow fills the drawing room of this family-run Georgian hotel known for its cooking school and unfussy comfort. Whether afternoon tea in the lush garden, drinks by the fire or a five-course supper in the dining room, everything is, naturally, of the utmost quality. Supper might kick off with Helvick oysters and mignonette sauce or a carrot and lemongrass soup before mains of pan-seared hake with chervil or braised Ballymaloe pork with root vegetables. Don’t skip the retro sweets trolley.”
