Meet Daphne Spillane, our exceptional Director of Sales and a cherished member of our team. Ballymaloe House has been like a second home for Daphne throughout most of her working life, where she has built wonderful friendships with both colleagues and customers.
Daphne's journey at Ballymaloe House began as a young hospitality trainee. Starting as a waitress in the dining room, she soon discovered her true calling in guest services when she moved to reception.
Driven by a desire to explore, Daphne travelled abroad to gain valuable experience. She returned to Ballymaloe House in the early 90s, initially working part-time and mostly evenings while raising a young family. Ten years later, as the business expanded, Daphne transitioned to a full-time reservation agent, maintaining her beloved Saturday evening shifts due to her strong rapport with guests.
Over the past decade, Daphne has thrived amid business growth and continuous renovations at Ballymaloe House, which now boasts 32 rooms. Her unique ability to make guests feel special has fostered enduring relationships, with many guests returning annually, looking forward to seeing her.
Last year, Daphne was promoted to Director of Sales, taking on expanded responsibilities and representing Ballymaloe House at various sales events and trade shows. Simultaneously, she enrolled in a Higher Diploma in the Business of Sales course at MTU, balancing this with her full-time role and being a mother to three boys.
